Welcome Sarasota (Fla.) coaches and administrators!

Sarasota County School District in partnership with the American Sport Education Program (ASEP) is proud to offer ASEP Bronze Level online courses Coaching Principles, Sport First Aid, and Coaching [Sport] Technical and Tactical Skills to certify coaches in your district and to earn the Florida Department of Education Athletic Coaching Endorsement.

Coaches earn certification by successfully completing the required online courses and passing the course exams with a minimum score of 80 percent. The courses available include:

1. Coaching Principles is for Sarasota County Coaching Theory.
2. Sport First Aid is for Sarasota County Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries.
3. Coaching [Sport] Technical and Tactical Skills courses are for Sarasota County Sport-Specific.

Each course is equivalent to three (3) semester hours or 60 in-service points. Requirements for Florida Coaching Endorsement are nine (9) semester hours or 180 in-service points.

To purchase online courses, contact Jim Clark (contact information appears below). Payment for course work will be made to Sarasota County School Board. The district will issue a user code for program access.

All materials for course work (textbook and CD-ROM) will be issued through Jim Clark. Instructions for course access will be included with course materials.

Coaching Baseball Technical and Tactical Skills Course

This course will help you learn how to teach the skills and strategies and techniques and tactics of baseball. You’ll learn about approaches to coaching, including the games approach (an alternative to drills-based coaching), you’ll develop a season plan and a series of practice plans; and you’ll improve your ability to coach during games. This course is suitable for high school coaches and for serious club coaches, and college coaches.
